Grotesque: Goya and Dix

I chose these images in the context of the grotesque, because of the way they represent the human body. Grotesque images of the human body reveal all it’s orifices and connect the body back to it’s most carnal renderings. The body depicted as devouring and giving birth all without an attempt to conceal such actions. The grotesque also represents the transition between life and death which I found in the first image from Goya’s war portfolio.
